Term 3 Workshop:
Revitalising Assessment
putting deep assessment into practice
Date: Tuesday October 8, 2024
10am - 3pm
Venue: Forest Lodge Public School
231-233 Bridge Rd, Forest Lodge Sydney
This one-day workshop is an opportunity to re-imagine what we can assess and how we can assess it. By assessing learning dispositions, we can shift the focus away from the “product” of learning onto the “process” of learning.
By making this shift, we message to learners the importance of dispositions like grit, focus, building new ideas or teamwork.
When we convey this message, we address concerns educators have that:
learners approach assessment with the sole purpose of completion - they just want to ‘get it out of the way’.
learners only care about marks - they see little value in, or opportunity to learn from and apply, feedback.
The Revitalising Assessment workshop will provide rubric examples for all dispositions in the 4C Learning Dispositions Wheel.
It’ll also introduce the E-scale, a non-linear rubric that authentically maps the process of continuous learning.
As with all 4C events, this is an opportunity to share and co-construct ideas with other schools and apply the day’s learning to your school’s own unique contexts.
Join us and other teachers on this deep learning journey in which we’ll think more richly about the purpose of assessment, the effects of assessment, the benefits of assessment and what you can do to improve assessment in your context.
4Cs in Practice Workshops are one day, in-person events
for teachers and leaders, held in Sydney.
These workshops explore, clarify and challenge your understanding of making the 4Cs come to life in your classrooms and schools.
These workshops will invite you to collaborate, play and reflect with educators and school leaders from across the 4C Network and beyond.
There’ll be opportunities to examine real-world challenges from your setting, related to the workshop’s theme.
You’ll walk away with workshopped actions ready to be embedded, implemented or shared within your own setting.
They’ll also give you the opportunity to work with, and learn from, the expertise of 4CTL Senior Practice Leaders.
